Nottingham has a most wondrous shopping centre! That is in
addition to its Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest associations. We used to
enjoy lunch in the Lace Centre. However, this has now been reordered in a
different place so we have had to find some alternative venues. These are
listed below.
Le Petit Four is actually situated on the ground
floor of of the undercover Broad Marsh Shopping Centre. (near the
entrance next to Boots) The cafeteria is open plan. We have now visited it twice and have
been very happy with both the quick and efficient service from the young
waitresses and also the quality of the food too. Tea is served
continental style in a big cup and comes complete with a sweet biscuit
accompaniment. We are very happy to award this eaterie four teapots!
Debenhams
departmental stores can be relied upon as they operated a national no-smoking
policy even before the smoking ban came into force. It is a self-service restaurant and, even
despite this, the food was piping hot on the day we visited which is not
always something that you can be sure of with this style of service.
The decor (Sarah seen here enjoys a piping hot jacket potato with
chicken and sweet corn filling) is pleasant with proper wooden
tables and access to windows makes much natural light available too.
Whilst
visiting Nottingham why not take a walk a little way out of the town centre and
visit Nottingham Arboretum? We did just that on a lovely sunny day in
October and some of the many photos taken are shown below by
way of temptation. All you need to do is follow the tramlines and
it takes you right there. The only warning we have to give you though
is...............the town centre map provided in the Information Centre does not
itemize it although it DOES show in a block of green the cemetery on the
opposite side of the road.
This is the first treasure
that greets you when you arrive at the Arboretum..........a most
wonderful pond with many white and mallard ducks.
Caveat:
Our guide is based on our own personal experience/snapshot of a
cafe/teashop/restaurant at the time of visiting. No inference therefore
can be taken that the level of service we received on the times visiting was
either standard or average.
