Lincoln

Lincoln is one of our "further away" jaunts on a Saturday!   Lincoln is a very interesting city as it has both an old and new part to the city centre.

The old city is reached by clambering up a very steep slope but the reward is worth it!  You are immediately taken back a century or two as you are greeted with narrow cobbled streets, a lovely square with a few market stalls (see picture below) and many quaint independent shops as well as, of course, the Cathedral!

Lesley's Tea Room.  Gordon Road, Lincoln.

We were pleased when we clapped eyes on "Lesley's Tea Rooms" in Lincoln. It was a wet and rainy day in January 2003 when we arrived and  so we and were grateful for a hot cup of tea and lunch.

We liked everything about it.........the ambience, soft music in the background........oldie worldie shelves..........and the food too was well cooked too!

There are many tearooms and eating places within Lincoln city, both the old and new part.  No doubt we will add our own personal reviews of any more if and when we visit.  Non-appearance here of any other eateries does not mean that we do not like them!!  (we simply don't have time to visit them all!)

The tearoom is situated suitably in the old part of the city near to the cathedral on the hill.   The tearoom is small but totally smoke free.  The waitresses are dressed suitably and the tables are covered in white lacy tablecloths.  The shop is quaint, with jars of cloth topped jams on its

Caveat: Our guide is based on our own personal experience/snapshot of a cafe/teashop/restaurant at the time of visiting.  No inference therefore can be taken that the level of service we received on the times visiting was either standard or average.
