Premier League Team News

Premier League tracks are now in the process of filling the last few vacant places prior to the official start of the 2000 season.

Berwick have signed Glasgow-born Steven McAllister for their number 7 position. Steven will be familiar to Linlithgow regulars as a sometime member of the Lightning team in 1997 and 1999.

Steven was considered a hot prospect and Edinburgh were keen to sign him for their 'Dale Devils Youth Development League team in 1998. He opted for Wolverhampton and has raced for their YDL team in 1998 and 1999. He has failed to make the progress expected and suffered some off-track problems last year that caused him to miss the latter half of the 1999 season at Linlithgow.

This will mean that there are now ten Scots riding in the Premier League. Edinburgh have three (Ross Brady, Kevin Little, Blair Scott), Berwick three (Scott Lamb, David Meldrum and Steven McAllister), Glasgow one (James Grieves), Workington two (Mick Powell and Barry Campbell) and Hull one (Wesley Waite). With Stewart McDonald having a spell out of speedway, that just leaves David McAllan of the Scots riderslooking for a place as he recovers from the knee operation.

Stoke have signed Swindon's Martin Williams to complete their side while Swindon themselves are considering Exeter junior Chris Courage to fill their final place.

No doubt there will be changes due to injury and loss of form. Team changes will be notified via the News pages of this site.

Teams are listed below:
