The Premiership
This competition was run for the first time in 1998 for the Premier League. It is a speedway equivalent of the Charity Shield and involves a pre-season home and away challenge between the Premier League Champions and the Premier League Cup holders.
The competing teams for 1998 were Reading and Edinburgh. Edinburgh won 100 to 79 on aggregate after winning home and away.
The Premiership was not run in 1999 as the 1998 Champions, Peterborough, had moved to the Elite League and runners-uo, Reading, were 1998 Cup winners.
In 2000, League Champions, Sheffield faced Cup winners Edinburgh. Sheffield won after a last heat decider in the second leg.
