Date of birth: 10/12/74, Edinburgh.
Paul First ride on Speedway bike at Linlithgow training track in 1990. In 1991 he signed for Edinburgh Monarchs age 16 and was a regular in the Monarchs reserve team.
In 1992 he made one appearance in Monarchs First team scoring 8points in challenge v Newcastle.
Paul missed 1993 due to illness. In 1994 he joined newcomers Linlithgow Lightning in Division 3. Poor fitness and machinery lead to disappointing year.
He stayed with Lightning in 1995, and started the season but faded away. He qualified for the League Riders Championship, scoring 2 points.
Paul took 1996 off to concentrate on work but kept his machinery and competed in around 10 matches. Signed on loan by Ryde and raced on their Northern Tour, scoring 11 at Linlithgow. He also raced in 2 matches for Eastbourne, scoring well on both occasions.
1997 Returned to Linlithgow (then Lathallan) and enjoyed my best year yet, averaging 9 points a match at home and around 7.5 overall. Paul made an appearance at Team Reserve for Oxford in the Premier League match at Armadale taking one ride.
In 1998, Paul was signed for Monarchs and appointed Captain of the British Development League team
