James Grieves is not the only Edinburgh rider subject to a bid from Glasgow. Ross Brady turned down a big money offer from Glasgow a couple of weeks back.
Contrary to the impression given, Peterborough did allow other clubs to talk to Brady. Ross commented:
"My Peterborough promoter Jim Lynch allowed Glasgow to talk to me. I don't see why other clubs shouldn't be able to contact me. However I just didn't fancy Glasgow's offer. Edinburgh looked after me very well last season and I'm happy to return to Armadale."
Brady admitted that he was "very close" to agreeing to return to Armadale. The decision to turn down Glasgow brought praise from Alex Harkess:
"Ross has stuck to his word and will ride for us in 2000. I take my hat off to Ross. He could easily have been swayed had Glasgow promised him big money."
It is possible that there has been a delay in Ross signing pending agreement with Peterborough. The Alwalton outfit have indicated that they have no problem with another one-year loan agreement for Brady, but Monarchs are looking foe a full transfer. It hoped that something would be sorted out at the recent BSPA conference. However the illness suffered by Harkess caused him to miss the last day of the meeting.
Without counting any chickens, it would appear likely that Ross will be back in Monarchs colours next year either on loan or on transfer.
