Peter Carr Injury Latest

Peter Carr, who sustained an injury at Arena Essex, was back in hospital last Thursday. He suffered a bruised hip which he was hoping would improve over the week. As things worked out it deteriorated and a small bood clot was detected. He was advised to rest and missed Monarchs' last meeting on Friday. The pain was so bad that he was unable to travel to Armadale for the celebration meeting.

Paul Thorp, who was due to guest for Glasgow in place of Paul Bentley, switched to Monarchs to replace Carr. Glasgow operated rider replacement for Bentley. Thorp did a decent job at number 5 for Monarchs despite falling in his first ride.

Alan Bridgett paid tribute to Carr for the way he battled on at Arena Essex and helped Monarchs win the Cup:

"When Peter got stretchered into the ambulance we all feared the worse. But people under-estimate his fighting qualities."

"His only concern was to get off that stretcher and do his bit for the club and his team-mates. We could see the match slipping away from us but Peter came back and steadied the ship."

Carr has verbally agreed to return to Monarchs next year. When he finally does retire, he will certainly be difficult to replace!
