Monarchs bid to sign Ross Brady for 2000

Edinburgh Monarchs are moving to secure the signature of Ross Brady for next season. His performances over the past year have made him a rider that most, if not all, Premier League sides would like to recruit.

Peterborough Panthers hold Brady's contract. They have given Monarchs the sole rights to talk to Brady. They have also issued a 'hands off' warning to the rest of the Premier League.

Monarchs' chairman Alex Harkess added:

"We have talked to Ross and his family. Peterborough are aware of it and have refused anyone else permission to talk to him other than Edinburgh. If Ross wants to stay with Edinburgh he will."

"We are very hopeful he'll remain with the club and if anyone else has spoken to him they have done so illegally."

Harkess also confirmed Monarchs interest in signing Brady on a more permanent basis:

"We would be happy to purchase Ross's contract if that's what he wants. But it must be at a reasonable price."

Ross is not committing himself at this stage. He is attempting to secure some sponsorship deals before signing. He added:

"I won't be deciding anything about my future until Christmas."

"Sponsorship is going to be extremely important. It will be a big year for me because I want to make the breakthrough to become a heat leader. And that means I have to find as many sponsors as I can."

Clearly Ross is concerned about getting top class equipment. Hopefully, if local sponsors come forward, Ross will be staying with Edinburgh.
