Exeter Playoff Match Postponed

The match scheduled for this Friday at Armadale fell victim to the weather. The Young Shield quarter final first leg against Exeter was called off half an hour before the start time of 7.30. Given the rain that hit the whole of central Scotland, it is a minor miracle that the postponment took so long. The area was deluged with heavy rain just before 7.00pm and while a track inspection appeared to be under way, there was litte prospect of the match going ahead as soon as the rain started.

The match has been scheduled for Friday 8th October. This will become the second leg with the first leg taking place at the County Ground on Monday 4th October weather permitting.

This postponement could have implication for the Scottish Cup home leg which was likely to take place next week if Monarchs had lost to Exeter or two weeks hence if Monarchs won. Should Monarchs beat Exeter they will face Berwick or Newport on Friday 15th October. The Young Shield Final will be run at Armadale on Friday 22nd October should Edinburgh win their Semi-Final.

That leaves Friday 29th October as the only free date. The first leg of the Scottish Cup is due to be held at Ashfield on Sunday 3rd October.
