Ross Brady blew his ninth engine of the season in heat 14 against Arena Essex last Saturday. Brady has been saved from financial disaster through sponsorship from Keyline Building Services. Brady commented:
"Without their help I don't know where I'd be. They've been fantastic. The engine blow-ups are starting to get on top of me now. However, I must put them out of my mind and concentrate on my racing because as a team we have much to go for."
Many have noticed that while Ross has improved his general riding over the season, his gating has lost the edge that he had earlier in the year. Ross attributes this to worn clutches that he has been unable to replace after pouring his available cash to replace or repair blown-up engines.
"My clutches have been worn-out of late which explains why I've been sluggish from the tapes. But I'm going to find some cash and get some new clutches to get me back to where I was at the start of the year."
"If I don't score ten or eleven people think I've had a bad match. They sometimes forget that I only came into the side on a three-point average and I'm still learning."
Brady is keen help Edinburgh to three trophies in the final month of the season. Edinburgh have been in the final stages of every Premier League competition but have yet to win anything. Monarchs do start as strong favourites for the Premier League Cup after building up an 18-point lead against Arena Essex. Before that is resolved Edinburgh face Glasgow in the Scottish Cup and Exeter in the Young Shield Quarter-Finals.
With the away leg due to be held first, Monarchs need to keep down the margin. This will not be easy against a full-strength Falcons team. A depleted Monarchs side lost by 16 points against half the Exeter team in July. Ross could well be the key to this tie. He made a sensational County Ground debut in July and scored 14 paid 15 from six rides. This included a win over Michael Coles in the final heat.
Commenting before the Armadale rain-off, Brady added:
"We certainly need as big a lead as possible. And I think we will get it. If we do edge Exeter, I fancy it'll be Newport in the semis.
