Fixture News

Several changes in Monarchs' fixtures have come to light recently.

The Scottish Cup was originally scheduled to take place this weekend was moved to accommodate the Cup Final against Arena Essex. The Ashfield leg is reported in Speedway Star as next Sunday 3rd October. The Armadale leg is most likely to be held on Friday 15th October. This is because the 1st, 8th, and 22nd October are reserved for Young Shield ties. Should Edinburgh be eliminated from the Young Shield by Exeter, then Friday 8th October is a possibility for the Scottish Cup.

The Arena Essex leg of the Cup Final seems set to go ahead on Saturday 16th October. This particular weekend is free from Young Shield ties unless there is a rainoff earlier. It should also give the chance for Monarchs to take two Cups in two days should they beat Glasgow in the Scottish Cup.

The Young Shield first round tie against Exeter goes ahead on Friday 1st October at Armadale and Monday 4th October at the County Ground. Should Monarchs manage to win they will face either Newport or Berwick at Armadale on Friday 8th October. The second leg will be held either at Berwick on Saturday 9th October or at Newport on Sunday 10th October.

Victory there will lead to the Young Shield Final. This will involve either Sheffield, Isle of Wight, Swindon or Newcastle. If Monarchs are involved, the Armadale leg will be on Friday 22nd October.

The final home match could be on Friday 29th October scheduled as the Grand Finale. This could be a challenge or an individual event, if it goes ahead.

This all amounts to a very busy October. Lat year, the season only just extended into October due to a very large number of rainoffs.
