Peter Carr's Motor Show takes place at Armadale this Friday. This will take the form of a four team tournament between teams representing the tracks that Peter has been most associated with over the years: Edinburgh, Belle Vue, Sheffield, and Newcastle.
There is one change to the original lineup with former World Finalist Paul Thorp being drafted into to replace the injured Blair Scott. Blair crashed into the starting gate last Friday at Armadale, and though not as badly hurt as first feared he has had to be ruled out of the Motor Show. Paul Thorp has just joined Stoke and had contacted his old friend Carr to ask for a place in his event. Peter says "Paul and I started schoolboy grasstrack racing around the same time, and I used to borrow his bikes! I had my best results on Paul's machine because it was better than mine. "I used to stay with Paul and his dad Reg sometimes when my dad was away helping my brother Louis riding for Ellesmere Port. They helped me a lot and the only reason I hadn't asked Paul was that I thought he wasn't currently racing. "Of course I'm very sorry that Blair can't ride but it's good news that he should be back in the team soon, in time for the big matches we have in September." The parade for the Motor Show will begin at 7.15 to allow time for the many events to be squeezed in before the curfew time of 9.45. Full teams: Edinburgh: Peter Carr, Kevin Little, Ross Brady, James Grieves. Reserve David McAllan. Team manager Alan Bridgett. Belle Vue: Mick Powell, Les Collins, Kenny McKinna, Joe Screen. Reserve Scott Courtney. Team manager Andrew Tully. Sheffield: André Compton, Sean Courtney, Sean Wilson, Carl Stonehewer. Reserve Aidan Collins. Team manager Reg Wilson. Newcastle: Jesper Olsen, Martin Dixon, Scott Lamb, Paul Thorp. Reserve Jonathan Swales. Team manager Tom Graham. Joe Screen will be first on track to make an attempt on Peter Carr's track record of 56.4, set on 5/9/97. Carl Stonehewer has demanded that he should also have a go at the record and he will follow Screen.
