Premier National Trophy Final Fixture News

Monarchs announced dates for the Final of the Premier National Trophy against Newport.

The first leg at Armadale is scheduled for Friday 10th September which was left open. The away leg is at Queensway Meadow on Sunday 19th September. This Sunday was originally intended for the final Test Match at Ashfield that has now been cancelled.

This means that Monarchs now only have two free Fridays before the end of October. This could lead to problems in staging the home leg of the Premier League Cup Final before mid-October should Edinburgh make it through.

It may be possible to postpone the Scottish Cup home leg scheduled for September 24th to accommodate the Cup Final. The Armadale leg against Glasgow could then be staged on the open date of 15th October. That is, weather and Young Shield play-off committments permitting.

Monarchs' rained-off match against Reading has been arranged for Monday 20th September. This is after the official cut-off date and Reading may be fined. Reading still have five home matches to stage after a succession of rain-offs. With Reading's change day being Sunday and shared events such as the National Fours and the Premier League Riders' Championship occupying a number of avaiable Sundays there was not a lot that could be done to get the fixtures completed on time.

There is still no news of a date for Monarchs remaing away match at Newcastle. This fixture could present problems since they have Sunday as race night and Monarchs are already committed on every Sunday beween now and the end of September. Again the only fixture that could be moved is the Ashfield leg of the Scottish Cup. This could be delayed until early October. Alternatively, the Brough Park fixture could be held on Newcastle's change day on a Monday.

Monarchs are at Peterborough on Sunday for the restaging of the Fours Finals. Two weeks later Peter Carr and probably James Grieves will be at Sheffield for the Premier League Riders Championship.
