Mike Faria Out Of World Championship

Former Monarchs' Number 1, Mike Faria, returned to action in the UK for the first time since the 1996 season when he competed in the Overseas Final of the World Championships at King's Lynn on Sunday. He qualified as winner of the American Final along with Josh Larsen, Jim Sisemore and Bert Bast.

As might be expected, Faria and the other non-UK based Americans found the competition a bit tough. Having only raced on the small American tracks for the past three years, Faria was unlikely to be competitive at a big track like Kings Lynn especially as he was on borrowed equipment.

The meeeting was won by the current man in form, Mark Loram who added the Overseas title to his recent British Championship and the Swedish Grand Prix title. The top eight who qualify for the next round. These qualifying places were dominated by British and Australian riders although the UK-based American Josh Larsen took ninth place and becomes reserve for the Inter-Continental Final at Poole.
