David McAllan Out for a Year?

The Edinburgh Evening News has confirmed that David McAllan's future is in jeapody due to the knee injury sustained at Swindon. He was attempting to repass Krister Marsh in heat 12 when he he fell.

"I slipped off when I hit a slick patch on the track on the track. My leg just went away from me and my leg bent leftwards at the knee".

The knee was X-rayed at St. John's Hospital in Livingston. This revealed that one of the minor ligaments was snapped and there was a possibility that the main knee ligament was also snapped. If this is the case, an operation will be required and he will be out for a year assuming that it is successful.

Edinburgh's track doctor has booked him in to the Royal Infirmiary in Edinburgh on Wednesday for keyhole surgery to reveal the full extent of the injury. McAllan added:

"If the main ligament has been torn or stretched I should be OK. If it has snapped, I face a massive uphill battle to get fit and race again. It is the Hospital's hope to get me back on track as soon as possible and fully fit".

"And, frankly, I can't afford to be out for long. I have my work now and I need the money to come in. I need to get back on that bike for even more money. Lying on my back with y leg in the air won't do me any good".

"I've heard of footballers with similar injuries getting back to action again, so it's not an unrealistic target for me to make a comeback before the end of the year".

"I felt my home form was just starting to get better. I wasn't getting big points but I was in there attacking".

Monarchs are looking for a replacement. John Campbell commented:

"Although David's average is above three, this doesn't help because there are no suitable candidates around. All we need is someone to score two points at home and that will do us for sure".
