The Newport Official Website has reported the following dates for the second round Premier League Cup tie against Newport:
The existing Premier League fixture at Newport on Sunday 4th July will be changed to the first leg of the Cup. This is part of Monarchs' first Southern tour with fixtures at Stoke (Saturday), Newport (Sunday) and Exeter (Monday).
The Premier League match at Newport will now be moved to Sunday 1st August. This starts the second Southern tour with matches to follow at Reading on Monday and the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.
The second leg of the Premier League Cup tie is to be held on Friday 16th July. This means that Newport will be visiting Armadale two weeks running. It is just as well that Newport are an entertaining team!
Monarchs are confident that they can progress in the Cup and go all the way and repeat their triumph of 1997. Alex Harkess was relieved that Monarchs avoided Sheffield in the second round draw. Most see Edinburgh and Sheffield as favourites for the cup and probably for the League as well.
