Edinburgh missed the chance to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League when the match against Arena Essex was called off just after 6.30pm this evening. Despite virtually non stop rain throughout central Scotland, the track wasn't waterlogged but with the rain still falling and predicted to continue, it was decided to call the match off when the riders declared that they were not too happy about going out.
In addition it will deprived an Edinburgh rider of having a second crack at Leigh Lanham's Silver Helmet.
No date has been fixed for the restaging of the match. Monarchs have a free date on June 25th. However there is a complication in that Arena Essex also run on a Friday. The new date will either have to be on a Saturday unless Arena Essex can switch a match to Saturday.
