Monarchs On Loan

Monarchs have a number of contracted riders currently out on loan to other clubs in British Speedway.

Paul Gould and Robert Eriksson are starring with Newcastle. Eriksson came in on a high average dating back to 1997 which many thought he would have problems in riding to. Yet he has increased it to over ten points and is probably having his best season since the creation of the current Premier League. Paul is having his best season ever pushing his average to over seven and a half points and has taken over as heat leader with the new averages last week.

Jan Andersen, who rode for Monarchs in the Powderhall days is having his second season on loan with Peterborough, this year in the Elite League.

Barry Campbell was riding with Belle Vue until he was replaced last week by Kaj Laukkanen.

There are other Monarchs' assets not currently riding in Britain. Robban Johansson and Vesa Ylinen, who last rode with the Scottish Monarchs at Shawfield in 1996, have both attracted interest earlier in the season. Mike Faria, who rode for Monarchs in 1995 and 1996, is not expected to return to Europe but continues to ride in California. Robert Larsen, who rode for the Monarchs in 1995 and 1998, has reputedly retired from speedway after breaking his leg when on loan with Sheffield last year.

News of the progress of all Monarchs assets will be given on these pages.
