The revived Linlithgow Lightning team are set to resume in the Conference League later this month. The first fixture will be held on Saturday May 22nd with an individual meeeting. The first League fixture will be one week later when the the other revivalists, the Rye House Rockets visit Heathersfield.
The first team members to be signed are Jonathan Swales who will be team captain and Ryan Milburn.
Jon Swales is 23 and is a member of the famous speedway clan from Northallerton in North Yorkshire. He had a highly successful spell at Heathersfield in 1997 averaging 9.69. After the the closure of Linlithgow, he moved to Newcastle in the Premier League and averaged 3.29.
Ryan Milburn is just 15 and was born in Edinburgh but currently based in Coldstream. He has been a regular second halfer at Armadale for the past two seasons. He will also ride for Armadale in the Youth Development League.
It has been confirmed that Glasgow promoter Brian Sands will release Robert McNeil to ride for Linlithgow. McNeil, a 15 year old from Rutherglen, is likely to appear in the Tigers' YDL team this season. McNeil has also been a regular second half rider at Armadale.
Subject to Premier League commitments, Jitendra Duffil (18) may also appear in the Lightning team this season. Jitendra is well known to Armadale regulars as an ever present in the Dale Devils YDL side for 1998. He is from Middlesbrough but is expected to attend University in Glasgow this year and has signed for the Tigers. Injuries to Scott Courtney and Wesley Waite have given Jitendra opportunities in the Premier League with both Glasgow and Berwick.
