Under 21 Championship

The British Under-21 Championship gets under way later this month with two semi-finals at Workington on April 10th and the Isle of Wight on April 13th.

The top five from each semi-final will join a wild card and five seeded riders in the final at Peterborough on April 23rd.

First Semi-Final (Derwent Park) line-up:

Andrew Appleton (Newport)
Grant MacDonald (Workington)
Mark McIlkenny (Glasgow)
Oliver Allen (Swindon)
Steven McAllister (Wolverhampton)
Mark Blackwell (Workington)
Chris Neath (Newport)
Mark Thompson
James Birkinshaw (Workington)
David Stokes (Glasgow)
Paul Clews (Reading)
Blair Scott (Edinburgh)
Ross Brady (Edinburgh)
Roger Lobb (Arena Essex)
Steven Jones (Newcastle)
David McAllan (Edinburgh)

Second Semi-Final (Smallbrook) line-up:

Gary Corbett (Arena Essex)
Scott Courtney (Glasgow)
Shane Colvin (Reading)
Marc Norris (Reading)
Danny Bird (Isle of Wight)
Matt Read (Arena Essex)
Chris Courage (Exeter)
Simon Stead (Sheffield)
Rob Clarence (Stoke)
Brian Turner (Glasgow)
Bobby Eldridge (Newport)
Glen Phillips (Oxford)
Nick Simmons (Isle of Wight)
Simon Cartwright (Sheffield)
Paul Lee (Sheffield)
Chris Harris (Exeter)

Riders seeded through to the Final:

Barry Campbell (Belle Vue)
Lee Dicken (Hull)
David Howe (Peterborough)
Scott Nicholls (Poole)
Lee Richardson (Poole)

There is plenty of local interest in the Workington semi-final with three of the Monarchs team in action. Ross Brady should be a good bet for qualification after his score of 15 in the Spring Challenge. If Ross qualifies he will face a final on his former track Peterborough.

The decision to automatically seed five Elite League riders through to the final is bound to be controversial. Monarchs asset Barry Campbell is in the final ahead of highly rated riders such as Grant MacDonald, Paul Lee, Simon Stead, etc.
