Premier League Team News

The Premier League teams are now nearing completion.

The following teams have been completed for some time:

Edinburgh
Exeter
Glasgow
Isle of Wight
Newcastle
Newport
Sheffield
Stoke
Swindon
Workington

The remaining teams had one place each to fill:

Reading had a vacancy as third heat leader. After attempts to sign Jason Bunyan and Vesa Ylinen failed they settled on Justin Elkins at second string and promoted Phil Morris to heat leader. This left Reading some 2 points short of the 41 limit. We should expect changes in the Reading line-up if the existing team does not prosper.

Arena Essex had been reputedly hoping to sign Justin Elkins to fill a second string place. They have now settled on John Wainwright, leaving them one point short of the 41 point limit. Wainwright comes in at reserve and Matt Read is promoted to second string as a consequence.

Berwick have one reserve place to fill with just over three points to play with. Berwick may wait until after their practise session before naming their second reserve.

Swindon have signed Steve Bishop on loan for a month to cover for the injured Gary Phelphs.

Newport may have to replace Frank Smart, who has sustained broken ribs, in the short-term or use guests.

Northern Teams Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berwick, and Newcastle.
Central Teams Sheffield, Swindon, Stoke, and Workington.
Southern Teams ,Exeter, Newport, Reading, Isle of Wight, and Arena Essex.
