Bert Harkins wants Kenny McKinna to come back as coach for Scotland in the three match series against the England Under-21 team. Harkins quoted in Speedway Star:
"I need someone to help me - at Glasgow last year, I had to find the guy who carried the 'phone around to get in touch with the referee and I spent so much time going backwards and fowards that I didn't have time to talk to the riders before they went out for a race."
"Kenny will leave a big gap. He was the ideal captain even if he didn't get all the points. He was good at helping the rest of the team, particularly the young ones."
"Kenny had a long career, he rode for 20 years and knew everything there was to know. His other big advantage was that he was up to date with the latest equipment and machinery and everyone in the team had respectfor him - because he'd probably beaten them a couple of weeks earlier."
"I would hate to lose his experience and I will be offering him the chance to come on board as coach."
