Premier League newcomers will face Monarchs in the season opener at Armadale on Friday 26th March. The return will be at Derwnt Park on Saturday 27th March starting at 7.00PM.
Workington will be led by Carl Stonehewer and Brent Werner who both score heavily at Armadale. They are backed up by Grant MacDonald, Peter Scully, and James Birkinshaw. Geoff Powell and Mark Blackwell are at reserve.
It is usual for Glasgow to provide the opposition for the opening match.
It is a positive move to bring in Workington rather than Glasgow, Berwick or Newcastle. All these teams will be at Armadale for the first month of the season for the Northern Group qualifiers for the new National Trophy competition. They will also visit Monarchs for the Northern Fours match in June as well as for Premier League fixtures.
