Kevin Little to Captain Monarchs

Edinburgh Monarchs announced that Kevin Little was to succeed Kenny McKinna as captain of the Monarchs. Kenny had been captain from of the Scottish Monarchs in 1996 and the Edinburgh Monarchs in 1997 and 1998. He took over from Les Colllins after the move from Powderhall.

The 26 year old borders-based rider had a double celebration since his enagagement had been annouced earlier in the week. Kevin commented:

"It is a great honour to be handed the captaincy. Kenny is a hard act to follow but I think I can do a good job, otherwise I would never have accepted the posiition."

Peter Carr had been tipped to take the job but declined it in favour of Kevin. He added:

"I was only going to do the job if no-one else wanted to. However, Kevin has accepted and I know he'll do a fine job in leading the team."
