Edinburgh Monarchs Team Manager and track preparation specialist has put his head over the parapet and has tipped his revamped side to take the Premier League title this year The following interview with David Kinvig appeared in the Edinburgh Pink on Saturday.
"I've got a good feeling about this year, a few faced have changed, but there is a nice air about things which is quitr delectable".
"There is a lot of potential in the youngsters we are blooding and there is good deal of interest in our big winter signing James Grieves. His career can move further on and he is still young enough to improve."
I think the side has a nice balance. Everyone is optimistic and the riders are ready to go and in the right frame of mind for the new season."
Bridgett admitted that Monarchs never really got going last year.
"We fell flat after the Lord Mayor's show of our first season at Armadale. We waited to kickstart te season but it finished before we had a real chance. We had set ourselves high standards. But whatever spark was missing, it seems to me to have returned already, that's how optimistic I feel."
Monarchs' teenage reserve duo have a critical role in the team this year. Bridgett thinks that both riders have the quality needed in this years' Premier League.
"They occupy crucial roles. Some sides have gone for strength in depth, others have opted for less experience at the tail-end. I believe that we have two of the best prospects in the entire league."
"David has been around for a year or two. And eveyone recognizes the potential Ross possesses. Once he gets a few meetings under his belt and settles in he'll be a vastly improved performer. A lot of people are keen to help him and I think we'll all benefit."
Bridgett refused to comment on wether Peter Carr will succeed Kenny McKinna as captain. Peter did put his helmet in the ring in his own inimitable style volunteering to do if if no one else wanted the job. Monarchs are obviously delighted that Carr has delayed his retirement to ride for this season at least.
"Peter is one of the best entertainers in the sport and remains one of the faster riders in the Premier League. He didn't have a good 1998 because he was injured before the season began and then suffered mechanical problems. However, he's already sewn of this year by agreeing to race and there are no question marks against him."
