Edinburgh Monarchs appear set to clinch a deal to televise their matches on Cable Television. This could be concluded next week according to reports.
The Scotsman reported that the deal will include both home and away matches although the latter will clearly require the permission of the host team. Having said that,I doubt if any Premier League track will turn up their nose at cash for television rights unless they have an alternative deal themselves.
The most recent example of televised speedway in Scotland was in 1997 when Glasgow Tigers had two matches screened in by Sky Scottish.
Sky Scottish was a joint venture between Scottish Television and satellite company BSkyB. Sky Scottish was only on screen from 6.00PM and 8PM on weekdays.
While it was hoped that a more permanent arrangement could be made to cover Tigers and Monarchs matches on the channel, this was ended when the station was shut down last year.
It is not known which Cable TV company are involved with the deal. Clearly this is not likely to be revealed until the deal is concluded.
The smart money is on Edinburgh L!VE TV. This is a community

Easter Road Stadium. It is part of the quirky national channel, L!VE TV best known for
