Monarchs Complete Team for 1999

Edinburgh Monarchs announced their team for the 1999 Premier League campaign.

The vacent third heat leader place was taken by Kevin Little after a prolonged dispute with his parent club, the cash strapped Berwick Bandits. Kevin rode for Monarchs in 1998 and had a earlier spell with Edinburgh at Powderhall in 1994. He rode for Coventry in 1996 and for Berwick in 1997.

He is joined by another former Bandit, the 18 year-old David McAllan, who finished last season with Newcastle.

The team is probably the one that most that most supporters wanted to see.

The team has a solid look to it. Unlike many other Premier League declared so far, Monarchs do have three genuine heat leaders. They have a strong top two in Carr and Grieves. Stewart McDonald held heat leader spot at Glasgow in 1997 and if he can recapture that sort form and push his average back up over 7.00 he could be Monarchs’ trump card.

With so many teams having two 3.00 point riders, the performance of the reserves could determine the destination of the championship. David McAllan ought to prove a reliable performer around Armadale while Ross Brady will probably perform better on the big away tracks such as Sheffield, Berwick, Isle of Wight and Exeter.
