Edinburgh Monarchs are in crunch talks with Ziebart regarding a new deal for next season reports the Edinburgh Evening News. Monarchs chairman, Alex Harkess, hopes to meet the Ziebart UK franchise director Dick Brown who is flying in the from the United States. Harkess will try to secure an extension to the £30,000 one year deal that was signed last year.
The multinational car care company said at the outset that they hoped that the deal would last two or three years but personnel changes at the Edinburgh depot affected the relationship during last season. Since Monarchs' previous sponsor, Gulf Oil, pulled the plug with little warning. Alex Harkess remains cautious.
"We have supplied Ziebart a 200-page book of press cuttings to their marketing advisor Vic Covey, and I know he is impressed. If Ziebart are willing and able to back us again, I will be delighted, but in any event I hope to have a decision soon."
"I have told Ziebart that I was want a decision by the end of this month. If we are still talking this time next week I'll be more positive than I am now."
"If not, we have other possibilities and
we would like time to explore these."
