Monarchs are having some 'local difficulties' in signing Kevin Little according o the Edinburgh Evening News. Although the Monarchs promotion wish Kevin to stay at Armadale and Kevin himself is keen to stay, there are problems in agreeing a transfer.from Berwick.
As things stand, Berwick are looking for double what Monarchs are offering. Alex Harkess said "It's a bit over the top. We are still negotiating with Berwick promoter Mike Hope and I'm sure that common sense will prevail".
If no deal can be struck, Monarchs will not be able to field an all British team and will have to bring in an 8.00 overseas rider as third heat leader.
Kevin himself added "It's a bit frustrating. I was happy happy at Armadale last year and have already told the Monarchs promotion that I will ride for them again. However until the situation is resolved, there isn't a lot I can do".
If Berwick don't drop their fee, the issue could go to arbitration. This would permit Kevin to sign with the fee being decided by an independent review and outside of the control of Berwick.
If Berwick continue to block this looks very much like restraint of trade and could raise a 'Bosman' type situation for speedway that could ultimately destroy the transfer system if tested in the courts.
