Team News

There has been no more news about the Monarchs team. It is assumed that negotiations are still proceeding about signing Kevin Little as the third heat leader.

One of Monarchs’ reputed targets for a reserve position, Scott Courtney has signed for Glasgow. Ross Brady and David McAllan were also reckoned to be in the frame.

One suggestion was that Ross Brady was to sign for Peterborough. This fuelled rumours about the Panthers dropping down to the Premier League. With the latest information suggesting that the new promotion at Alwalton intend to remain in the Elite League, this makes it less likely that they will require Brady for 1999. Even if Peterborough are not interested in Ross, Monarchs will face competition from Berwick, Newcastle, and half the Premier League for his signature.

Monarchs have indicated that Robert Eriksson, Paul Gould, and Barry Campbell will be available to other clubs for 1999. All three have been linked with Newcastle and two out of three with Berwick. Gould and Campbell both travelled to Newcastle for their supporters’ club football tournament last year. Other Monarchs assets available for 1999 are Vesa Ylinen, Robban Johansson, Stefano Alfonso, and Mike Faria.
