Glasgow pip Monarchs

Monarchs' amazing run of close results at Ashfield continued with yet another single point defeat by 45 points to 44. The corresponding fixture last year produced an identical scoreline while the Premier League fixture ended up 47 points to 46 to the home side.

This was a typical encounter with Edinburgh collecting 10 heat wins but Glasgow picking up the bulk of the minor points. The almost obligatory last heat decider was won by Peter Carr but with Robert Eriksson's engine about to seize he lost his early second place and retired on the last lap. This tied heat confirmed Glasgow's single point win. Monarchs did take the aggregate match point by 90 points to 88.

The meeting had its moment of controversy in heat 2 as Scott Courtney was awarded two points for second place despite not being under power when the heat was stopped. In similar circumstances in the Armadale leg, Robert Eriksson was excluded in heat 13. That sums up Monarchs' season so far!

Peter Carr took another awesome 15-point full maximum. Robert Eriksson won his first two heats on the way to a score of 10 points from five rides. Jan Andersen took 7 paid 9 from five including a tactical substitute outing. Blair Scott and René Aas both struggled but managed a race win each in heat 8 and 14 respectively. They failed to score in their other rides. Christian Henry picked up 5 points from four rides and Derek Sneddon 1 paid 2 from three rides.

That completes Monarchs away matches in the Premier National Trophy qualifiers.
