Monarchs suffered their first rain-off of the season when the match against Glasgow Tigers at Armadale was called-off.
The decision was announced at 7.35 due to deteriorating weather conditions. An inspection by the team captains ten minutes earlier suggested that the match would go ahead at 7.30 but the rain kept on coming. It only started raining just before seven but it turned out to be too heavy to allow the match to go ahead.
Needless to say as soon as the postponement was announced, the overhead conditions lightened. However by then the track was pretty well waterlogged so there is no doubt that the correct decision was taken.
The match has been rearranged for Sunday afternoon at 4.30. With no blank Fridays until September and a strict deadline for the completion of Premier National Trophy group qualifiers, the match needed to be restaged this weekend. Edinburgh's normal change date of Saturday was not available given Monarchs' visit to Derwent Park, Workington.
Unusually Glasgow have no fixture on Sunday. This is probably because the British Championship semi-final is to be held at Newport on Sunday afternoon. There are no riders from either Edinburgh or Glasgow involved.
Monarchs' new signing René Aas will now make his debut at Saturday at Workington.
