Six of the seven Monarchs have now completed the three home and three away matches needed to qualify for a new Green Sheet Average.
Peter Carr, Jan Andersen and Derek Sneddon did so last week in the match against Newcastle and their new averages became effective on Friday for Sheffield match. This resulted in changes in the team with Jan Andersen moving up to heat leader at the expense of Ben Shields.
Blair Scott had missed the match at Stoke while Christian Henry missed the trip to Newcastle and did not obtain new Green Sheet Averages. Ben Shields was injured for the home and away matches against Stoke while Robert Eriksson hadn't even completed one lap.
Subsequent to the issue of Green Sheets to the team, Ben Shields, Christian Henry, and Blair Scott have completed three home and three away although only Ben will get a new average at this stage. Blair and Christian completed their third away match at Hull but will have to wait until 1st June for a new average. The June Green Sheets will include matches up to 15th May. Because Blair and Christian missed out on the team Green Sheet Averages, they will retain their 2000 Green Sheet Averages until next round.
Things are different in the case of Ben because he started on an assessed average and he will receive a new average within seven days of clearing his three home and three away matches. Ben's six matches include the home fixtures against Workington, Newcastle, and Sheffield and away fixtures at Berwick, Newcastle and Hull. The meeting at Sheffield will be disregarded for the purpose of the initial Green Sheets but will be included in subsequent issues.
Ben's new average is 3.48 (4.33 home and 2.55 away). This will mean that he will drop to reserve for the Armadale match against Glasgow next Friday. Christian Henry moved up to second string despite retaining his 2000 average of 4.13 points. Christian's unimplemented average is 5.60 (7.20 home and 4.00 away). This repreents an increase of one third on his 2000 average.
Blair also retains his 2000 average of 4.95 despite achieving an average of 6.72 (8.31 home and 5.00 away) over six matches. Blair's new away average is actually higher than his 2000 overall average. He has upped his average by nearly 40% so far.
Of the six riders to have completed six matches, five have shown an increase while only Ben Shields is failing to live up to his starting average. Full details are given below:
