Monarchs shuffle the pack

The new Green Sheet averages coming into effect on Friday for the visit of Sheffield have forced Monarchs to make in change in race order. Jan Andersen has, as expected, moved up to heat leader at the expense of Ben Shields. In addition with Robert Eriksson returning after threee weeks out it has been decided that he should vacate, for one week only, his usual number one racejacket to ease the pressure on him.

The revised order sees Jan Andersen move to number one, Peter Carr back to his pereferred number three position and Robert Eriksson to number five. Blair Scott remains at number two and Ben Shields moves to number four. Christian Henry and Derek Sneddon remain unaffected for the moment. Once Robert regains his full match fitness he will probably move back to number one with Jan Andersen going to number five.

Sheffield have a very powerful squad headed up by Sean Wison, Robbie Kessler and Simon Stead. All three are excellent performers around Armadale and will full test the home heat leaders. The Sheffield bottom four have less of an Armadale pedigree. Scott Smith has had some dreadful meetings at the Arena in recent years although he was paid for nine points on both of his first two visits back in 1997. Adam Allott has recorded a couple of heat 2 wins at Armadale last year but has yet to prove himself. Andrew Moore and Lee Hodgson have yet to make a appearance as both missed out when Sheffield Prowlers competed against Ashfield Lighting in the only Conference League match held at Armadale. Sheffield proved highly competitive in the three visits to Armadale but they do have a rather long tail. If the Edinburgh heat leaders can get the better of their Sheffield counterparts then the Monarchs second strings and reserves should be capable of winning the match.

Teams for the Premier National Trophy match at Armadale on Friday 20th April (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are:

Edinburgh Monarchs: Jan Andersen, Blair Scott, Peter Carr (capt.), Ben Shields, Robert Eriksson, Christian Henry, Derek Sneddon.

Sheffield Star Tigers: Robbie Kessler, Scott Smith, Simon Stead, Adam Allott, Sean Wilson (capt.), Lee Hodgson, Andrew Moore.
