Robert Eriksson currently has a foot in plaster to protect his two broken toes. He has been old by doctors to rest until next month but remains keen to get back in action as soon as possible. Maybe he will be ready to return for the visit of Newcastle on Good Friday.
Robert has admitted in the Edinburgh Evening News that the state of his bike is of more concern than his broken toes. He has estimated that repairs will cost £1,500. Finding that sort of money so early in the season is going to present a problem for Robert.
He said: "I bought a brand new engine for this season and I've only done two meetings on it. The framework, handlebars, engine plate, in fact almost everything was mangled in the crash. I reckon it will be in the region of £1500 to fix.
He said: "The track was a bit dodgy and I think that was to blame. I felt I ran into something, perhaps a soft spot. I picked up so much drive I was thrown over the handlebars. I hadn't broken anything in my foot before. It's my left foot, the one which wears a steel shoe for balance and that's the best one to break."
Eriksson admits he had a lucky escape - fearing he had injured his back when he somersaulted across the track.
