With no.1 Robert Eriksson out injured with two broken toes on his left foot Edinburgh Monarchs have enlisted the services of PHIL MORRIS of Reading to stand in as a guest at Armadale on Friday for the Premier Trophy match with Workington.
Perhaps the most controversial visitors to Armadale last season Morris was also one of the very few visitors who defeated Peter Carr at the track last year.
Said Morris, "I thought it was a wind up when promoter John Campbell got in touch but as soon as he had made it clear that it wasn't I jumped at the chance to ride at Armadale. I can't wait to get there on Friday."
News on Robert Eriksson is better than first thought and he hopes to be back on Good Friday, 13th April. Monarchs other injury worries, Blair Scott with a foot injury and Ben Shields with an arm injury both expect to ride on Friday.
The visit of Workington will pose the first real threat to Monarchs home record. Workington were the only visiting team to win at Armadale in 2000 and they did it twice! Along with Newcastle who won twice at the Arena in 1999, they are possibly the team most likely to trouble Monarchs at Armadale.
There is no news as yet on who will guest for Monarchs at Berwick on Saturday and at Newcastle next Monday.
