Edinburgh did just enough to take the Spring Trophy from Glasgow after winning by 47 points to 43 at Armadale.
The track was very tricky after heavy rain for much of the day and there were several falls. The most serious was suffered by Ben Shields in heat 3 when he was brought down by Stuart Swales and took no further part in the meeting. He suffered an ankle injury and suspected concussion. His remaining rides were takes by Monarchs' reserves but yielded no points. Derek Neddon also fell in heat 14 but suffered no serious injuries.
Jan Andersen top scored with 13 points from five rides in his Armadale debut. Peter Carr won three heats but retired when well ahead in his second ride. Robert Eriksson was also unbeaten until he surprisingly finished last in heat 15.
Blair Scott fell in his first ride and slipped from second to last in his second outing finished with 4 points as did Christian Henry. Derek Sneddon made an impressive home debut as a full time rider with 5 points despite a tapes exclusion and a a fall.
