Australian Final

Christian Henry was in action for the biggest meeting of his career when he competed in the Australian Final at Murray Bridge, South Australia. As expected in such a strong field, Christian struggled for points. He picked up one point from his four rides.

The fact that Christian made it to the event represents great progress over the past year. Christian was unable to compete in the Queensland Final because it would have lumbered him with a nine-point starting average in the Premier League rather than the three-points he came in on. Christian qualified for the Final after taking third place in the Queensland Solo Final behind Jason Crump and the 'guest' Simon Stead. Ben Shields faced a tougher task to qualify from the New South Wales Final. He appeared to have been named at first reserve for the Australian Final at one stage but it was later confirmed that Dean Wiseman took that place. The withdrawal of Mark Lemon led to Wiseman's inclusion in the event.

Leigh Adams and Todd Wilshire topped the points after four the rounds of qualifying heats with 11 points followed by Steve Johnston with 10 points.

The final was won by Todd Wiltshire ahead of Leigh Adams, Mick Poole and Steve Johnston.

Christian Henry and Ben Shields will be in action in two weeks time in the Australian Under-21 final also in South Australia at Gillman in Adelaide.
