It was confirmed that Ross Brady was to go on loan because he failed to agree terms with Monarchs for 2001. Ross was seeking a small increase but the Monarchs promotion clearly did not think that this was justified following his dismal form last season.
Most likely it was felt that Jan Andersen on a six-point average looked a good replacement to take Ross's number four position. This would still leave enough points available to fit a seven-point heat leader in to replace Kevin Little. Hence there was no real reason to pay over the odds. Monarchs do want Ross back to ride for them in the future as was confirmed by Mike Hunter in the Edinburgh Evening News:
"Disagreement was always likely," said Hunter. "And so it proved. No rider has a guaranteed place in the team. Every rider, engaged in talks, tries to get the best deal they can. On this occasion, agreement could not be reached. Why should Ross be given an increase at all. I hope the club have not fallen out with him. We want him back in the future."

So far no other tracks have expressed an interest in Ross although it is likely that many teams will try to fill their heat leader and possibly their reserve places and then see how many points are available for the middle order.
