Edinburgh lost out on a last heat decider for the bonus point at Owlerton on Thursday. They went into the last heat 11 points down and needing to avoid a 5-1. Unfortunately Sean Wilson and Robbie Kessler were ahead at the first bend and took the maximum to give Sheffield the bonus by a single point 93-92.

Support came from Robert Eriksson with 9 paid 10 from six rides and notably from Christian Henry. The Australian youngster produced his finest performance for Monarchs with 7 paid 8 from four rides. This included a paid win behind Carr in heat 14 and some determined overtaking.

Blair Scott weighed in with 3 paid 4 from five rides. Kevin Little had another dire Owlerton performance with a single point from three rides. Will Beveridge had a similar score and Ross Brady was paid for 1 paid 2 points from three rides.

Match report to follow That concludes Edinburgh's Premier League campaign for 2000. The loss of the bonus point to Sheffield probably ends Monarchs' prospects of a top-four finish and it appears that sixth is the likely finishing position.
