The Premier League match against Exeter at Armadale was called off at around 19.45 this evening after persistent drizzle left the track waterlogged. Intitially it was hoped that the meeting could go ahead given that dry weather was forecast for later in the evening. However after a delay of fifteen minutes, the referee called off the meeting.
This probably came as a relief to the Exeter team who faced going into the match without their two best Armadale performers. Michael Coles and Graeme Gordon were held up in traffic and hadn't arrived by the scheduled start time. They were offered local second halfer James Denholm but could have been in for a real thumping if Coles and Gordon didn't arrive. They would have faced a full strength Monarchs team with Kevin Little ready to ride contrary to press reports. It will mean a long trip north for Exeter the restaging of this match. Exeter will be without Roger Lobb on the rearranged date since his 18-month drug ban takes effect on Sunday night. Exeter will use rider replacement as they are unable to replace Lobb as the deadline has now passed.
The match has been rescheduled for Friday 22nd September which was reserved for possible rained-off matches.
