Edinburgh were given the fright of their lives at Armadale by the high flying Swindon Robins. The visitors surged into a 16-8 lead after four heats. It could have been 17-7 but for a Neil Collins engine failure in heat 3 that gifted Monarchs their only heat advantage to date.
Edinburgh came fighting back with a Peter Carr/Ross Brady 5-1 in heat 5 and eventually edged into the lead after Robert Eriksson and Blair Scott produced another maximum in heat 10. Swindon came back with a heat 11 advantage to lead by 33 points to 32. This narrow one-point advantage was maintained all the way to the final heat, Along the way André Compton suffered an engine failure when leading heat 13. Monarchs also had a scare in heat 14 when Will Beveridge was harshly excluded but Ross Brady won to set up the last heat decider. Carr and Eriksson surged effortlessly to a 5-1. Peter Carr completed his seventh maximum in the last eight home meetings.
Once more all the home team, part from the unfortunate Christian Henry got amongst the points but once more Kevin Little failed to score to his potential and Blair Scott and Ross Brady will have hoped for a few more points.
Monarchs move back to fourth in the table, while Swindon, who easily took the bonus point move to the top ahead of Sheffield and Exeter.
