Edinburgh slumped to defeat against a strong Swindon side at Blunsden. After the strong team show at the Isle of Wight, Monarchs were effectively a three man side at Swindon and only Will Beveridge was able to give support to Peter Carr and Robert Eriksson.
Peter Carr failed to score in his first ride but then have five straight wins to top score with 15 points. Robert Eriksson provided 10 points from five rides but blew another engine in his fourth ride on top of the one wrecked at the Island on Tuesday. Kevin Little scored 4 points from 4 rides while Ross Brady only managed a single point from four rides on a track where he excelled last year. Blair Scott also scored 1 point but from three rides. Christian Henry failed to score from three rides. Will Beveridge was the pick of the bottom end with a determined 5 paid 6 from 5 rides including a last place in heat 15.
Monarchs now have only three away Premier League matches to complete. They are due to visit Hull and Sheffield in September and also have a postponed match at Stoke to rearrange.
Current Premier League results and tables are as follows:
Monarchs have dropped out of the top three as a consequence of other results but have the opportunity to climb the table if they beat Newport at Armadale on Friday. Edinburgh still look set for a top-eight finish and a place in the Young Shield playoffs. A top-three place is just about on the cards but will require Monarchs to win their remaining home fixtures, take most of the bonus points on offer, and pick up a point or two from their remaining away matches.
