Monarchs produced possibly their best Armadale performance of the year to see off League leaders and championship favourites, Sheffield, by a 14 point margin.
There was some great racing on a grippy track. The evening was overcast with a hint of drizzle in the air. All the Edinburgh team weighed in with points.
Kevin Little found the going tough at number 5 against the powerful Sheffield heat leaders and was the only home rider not to record a win or a paid win. He did take three second places before running last in heat 13. Peter Carr produced a seemingly effortless paid maximum while Robert Eriksson dropped only one point from five rides. Blair Scott was great value after being passed by Sean Wilson and Paul Lee in the opening heat. He scored 6 paid 7 from four ride. He held off a challenge from golden double Sean Wilson to win heat 8 and backed up Eriksson to a maximum over Simon Stead in heat 10. Ross Brady made a fair comeback after injury and had an impressive ride to beat Sean Wilson in heat 5 and score 5 paid 6. Christian Henry had perhaps his most assured Armadale meeting to date, scoring in three of his four rides and picking up 4 paid 6. Will Beveridge won heat 2 and unfortunatly fell when in third place in heat 7 but score 4 paid 5.
Robbie Kessler kept Sheffield in contention with lighting starts and steady riding from the front. Only Sean Wilson and Simon Stead offered any support to Kessler.
Current Premier League results and tables are as follows:
This reult enables Edinburgh to leapfrog Sheeffield and Exeter and return to the top of the Premier League. This time Monarchs should be there for some time as the Premier League programme takes a short mid-season break.
The Premier League Best Pairs is on Saturday at Workington and the Cup second round assumes centre stage next weekend. With the Scottish Open in two weeks time, Edinburgh do not return to league action until the end of July when Glasgow visit.
