David McAllan out for season

David McAllan is out for the season after being injured riding for Stoke at the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.

David missed the start of the season as he was still recovering from his knee operation and wasn't available for Monarchs' starting seven. He was named briefly in the team after the departure of Brian Turner but did not make an appearance due to another injury. He was effectively replaced in the team by Will Beveridge when the June averages came in.

David made some appearances for Lightning in the Conference League. He recently went on a short-term loan with Stoke to try and prove his fitness and gain a permanent place in the Potters' team.

He was starting to put a few scores together but fell heavily in heat four at Smallbrook when Adam Shields came hard underneath him. He suffered a compound fracture of his back. He will have to lie flat on his back in hospital for the next seven to ten days.

I am sure that everyone at Edinburgh wishes David a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action for Monarchs and Lightning next year.
