Edinburgh lost another tight away fixture at Brough Park going down by 49 points to 41 to Newcastle. The match was close throughout and no tactical substitutes were used. Newcastle finished with three 4-2 heat advantages to stretch their advantage.
The team all produced points. Peter Carr, with 12 points from five rides and Robert Eriksson with 10 points from five, were Monarchs' top scorers. Will Beveridge had his best meeting in Monarchs' colours with 5 paid 6 from four rides. Ross Brady also weighed in with 5 paid 7 from four rides. The reserves suffered somewhat with Blair Scott on one of his least favourite tracks picked up 3 points from 4 rides. Christian Henry, still feeling the effects of his injured wrist, scored 2 points from 4.
Bjarne Pedersen delivered for Newcastle with fifteen point maximum. Jesper Olsen, Stuart Swales, and the rest of the team all provided backing.
Edinburgh face Newcastle in the return next Friday and will be hoping for a ten point win to secure the bonus point.
