Edinburgh crashed to defeat at Berwick. While the fact that the Bandits were struggling with an injury crisis may have given Monarchs hope, the news that Berwick were able to squeeze in-form Paul Thorp at second string put paid to any thought Monarchs may have had of picking up a win. Thorp was able to take five rides including ar rider replacement outing and cruised to a paid maximum.
The meeting was deadly dull with most heats won from the gate. The only chance of entertainment was if Alan Mogridge missed the gate. This only happened twice! Peter Carr and Robert Eriksson got little change out of the top home riders altough Eriksson did beat Pau Bentley in the opening heat. Ross Brady also managed the only defeat of Alan Mogridge. Blair Scott and Christian Henry weighed in with vital points that kept the winning margin to fifteen points.
Peter Carr seemed to lack speed once more and Robert Eriksson also had machine problems. He broke down in heat 13 and did not make his expected tactical substitute appearance in heat 14. He also did not appear in the final heat with Ross Brady joining Peter Carr.
Edinburgh need to sort this out by next weekend with trips to Workington and Newcastle scheduled.
