Although the scoreline gives the impression of another hard fought Glasgow/Edinburgh meeting, in reality it was an easy win for the Tigers.
A heat 12 'golden double' by Peter Carr and Robert Eriksson agaonst the Glasgow reserve pairing put Monarchs back in the match when they didn't really deserve to be in it. A 5-1 by the same pairing in heat 15 after the match was already settled further gave the scoreline a misleading look about it.
Edinburgh had the two outstanding individuals in Peter Carr (18 points from six rides) and Robert Eriksson (14 points paid 16 from six rides) but the rest of the team offered scant support. Ross Brady won his first two heats but as the track became wet and greasy he tailed of in his last two rides and ended with 7 points. Kevin Little had another Ashfield nightmare with only one point from three rides. Will Beveridge (1 point from three) and Christian Henry (no score from three) also failed to get in the points and it was left to Blair Scott (5 points from five rides) to provide some back-up.
Glasgow took control early on and had their noses in front throughout. Monarchs looked like taking the lead in heat 13 but Peter Carr lost a dubious looking decision on the line and Tigers remained one point ahead. They clinched things with a heat 14 maximum from Aidan Collins and Mark Courtney.
Aidan Collins was especially impressive for Glasgow with 10 points from five rides. The Glasgow team all got in the points apart from the hapless Emiliano Sanchez who looked to be in woeful form.

This result leaves Edinburgh trailing the early pace-setters in the Premier League. Uness they can produce a result at Berwick in two weeks time, they risk losing touch with the leaders.
