Monarchs crush Racers

Edinburgh beat Reading to keep up the pressure on the Premier League front runners and maintain their 100% league record. The margin of victory at 53 points to 40 does not reflect Monarchs' dominance of the match thanks to a controversial heat 14 'golden double' that reduce the margin from 20 points to 13.

Kevin Little scored his first ever paid maximum. It looked like he would have been joined by Carr, Eriksson, and Brady who were all an maximums prior to the last two heats.

The Monarchs' top four were unstoppable prior to the last two heats by which time the meeting was long settled. The bottom three, by contrast struggled with apparent machine problems. Blair Scott looked very slow with a 'flat' engine. Will Beveridge started well but his bike seemed to develop a misfire in subsequent heats. Christian Henry looked a bit uncertain on borrowed machinery but improved as the meeting went on.

The meeting was full of controversy with Phil Morris at the centre of most of it. He spent the meeting gradually working himself up and nursing a grievance about his heat three exclusion. He rode very well but was at times was a danger to all on the track. He was also involved in an unseemly brawl in the pits while Ross Brady was lying on the track having been 'fenced' in the second attempt to run heat 14. But the it wouldn't be an Edinburgh/Reading match without some controversy!
