Monarchs win at Arena Essex

Edinburgh opened their Premier League campaign with a great win at Arena Essex. Although it is acknowledged that Arena are somewhat below strength following injuries to Leigh Lanham, Nick Simmons and, until recently, Matt Read, they were unbeaten at home until the visit of Edinburgh. Last year, Monarchs were the only visiting team to win at Arena.

Robert Eriksson, Peter Carr, and Kevin Little led the way as Edinburgh secured a 5-1 in heat 13, a 4-2 in heat 14 and a 5-1 in the final heat to overturn a six point lead for the home side.

Robert Eriksson was top scorer with 16 points from six rides, while Kevin Little marked a return to form with 11 points from 4 rides. Will Beveridge was plagued with machine troubles and only managed 1 point paid 2 from his last ride. Peter Carr aided Robert Eriksson to the two cruicial 5-1s in heats 13 and 15. Peter scored 11 paid 14 from five rides. Ross Brady produced 4 paid 5 from four rides. Jon Swales added 3 points from five rides.
